Learners working with Babcock will follow a journey that enables
them to achieve their qualification. There are
basically 7 steps in the learner journey as follows:
- Initial assessment
This is the first stage in the journey to achieving your
qualification; your Babcock Recruitment Advisor undertakes an
initial assessment to establish your training needs, learning style
and eligibility for funding.
- Draw up the Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
Your dedicated Vocational Learning Advisor discuses with
you the training options available, helping you to select the right
qualification, and then works with you to develop your own
individual learning plan to complete the qualification.
- Complete induction
Babcock will induct you onto your specific course,
completing all funding details, registering you with awarding
bodies and providing you with access to our resources (both on-line
and written).
- Adult literacy / numeracy test (if required)
Dependant upon your course and previous qualifications you
may undertake an adult literacy or an adult numeracy qualification,
which are sometimes referred to as Adult Basic Skills. You will
receive all the guidance and support you require to sit these tests
by your Vocational Learning Advisor, and when ready will take the
test on-line in your workplace.
- Work-based learning
The vast majority of your learning will take place during
support visits from your Vocational Learning Advisor in the
workplace (although some tests may be undertaken at local venues).
During the support visits your portfolio will be built up and you
will be supported through:
1. Observing the work you undertake in the workplace
2. Discussing your duties with you
3. Guiding and supporting you in the workplace
4. Reviewing your portfolio and assessments
5. Providing feedback to your employer
6. Key Skills accreditation (if required)
7. Technical certificate (if required)
- Work is internally verified
Nearing the final part of your journey the quality of your
work will be internally verified to ensure that your learning
portfolio meets the standard required by the awarding body and the
industry in general.
- Achievement of your qualification
Following the completion of all the above stages in the
journey, you will be awarded your qualification and your success
will be fully recognised by your employer, Babcock and of course
yourself.
